Louisiana became the eighteenth state to become apart of the United States. Louisiana was recruited by The Louisiana Purchase in April 30, 1803. We bought Louisiana Purchase from France. The Purchase was for about 283 million. It came with 828 thousand square miles. The president at the time was Thomas Jefferson.
During the Revolutionary War (1775) Spain allowed agents of the Continental Congress to use the New Orleans as a base. They shipped supplies up the Mississippi and Ohio river for the struggling American colonies. In 1783 the Revolutionary War is ends.
In 1849, the New Orleans is the third largest in the United States with a population of 102 thousand. Baton Rouge becomes the states capital.
